Arkansas ESAR is actively recruiting for the Fall of 2008. We are
looking primarily for 14 to 16 year old, highly motivated young men who
are interested in Search and Rescue. Our recruiting period is August
and early September.
You must be at least 14 years old and have completed the 8th grade to
join. Older youth members are welcome also, but may not be able to
complete the full three year syllabus.
Outdoor and/or Scouting experience is very helpful but not required.
You must be able to work hard and study hard to be a member.
Search and Rescue is physically and mentally demanding and will
require you to study and train hard to become Callout Certified. It will
take nine months of work and dedication on your part to meet the
standards to be able to participate in actual SAR missions. Search and
Rescue gear and training is not free. You will have to acquire a
minimum amount of gear and uniform items during the initial 9 month
Trainee period.
If you are looking for adventure, a real challenge, and real responsibility
then you are looking in the right place. We meet every Tuesday night
for an hour and a half and train from Friday evening to Sunday
afternoon once a month year round. It takes commitment, hard work,
and fortitude to be one of the ESAR Team.
If you would like to be invited to join or would like to check us out,
please send an e-mail with your name, age, address, and phone
number to (e-mail us). If you have questions or would like to talk to us
by phone, please call 501-351-ESAR.

Adult Members of Arkansas ESAR serve primarily as Advisors and
Instructors for our Youth Members. Adults must meet the same
standards for Callout as the Youth Members. Adults are recruited for
their potential as Advisors and for their interest in Search and Rescue.
All leaders must be approved by our Sponsor and must meet the
requirements for Adult Leaders with the Boy Scouts of America. If
you are interested in becoming an Adult Advisor with Arkansas ESAR,
please contact Allen Lawrence.
